This History has happened very fast! …..
So much so that for the new generations there hasn’t been another way of doing things without an intelligent device (PC, Laptop, Smartphone, Tablet, etc.). For this generation, the calculator, which for us was the wonderful discovery that gave us the relief for don’t to do arithmetic operations by hand (almost!… with paper and pencil), is nothing more than a common feature among the hundreds that have the modern devices that surround them, and they are using daily.
If you think that this is not true, observe how the child of 2 or 3 years of age who innocently slides his finger on the TV screen, tells his parents that is damaged because…! nothing happens!, or, try to show to a teenager or a child of 8 or 10 years, a music cassette or a Sony or Motorola 1st generation cell phone to see the expression of his face.
Talk to them about analog cameras (Yes, those with the film to reveal) which did not understand about pixels, memory, etc. Explain them that Internet came to our lives in the early 90s and that, before that, there was no Google, no emails no Wikipedia. Try to make them believe that we met YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc. just in the last few years. Surely they will watch us with disbelief, as they think we are joking and we will be asked: and how could you live as well?
Without a doubt, the transformation has been radical to almost the point of insanity.
And… How it all has happened?
It took thousands of years making History for to reach from the abacus (3,000 B.C.) to the mechanical calculating machines (Pascaline 1642 A.D.). After that, everything was a frantic race in the application of exact sciences such as mathematics, the Boolean algebra, etc., and other areas of knowledge such as mechanics, physics, electricity, statistics, logic, etc. to reach build machines that could work for the human being. The 17TH, 18th, 19th and the first half of the 20th century were a time of preparation, trials, studies and experiments of mathematicians, physicists, engineers, philosophers, etc., which laid the Foundation for what happened then…
The discovery of the solid state components, at the end of the 40s, did they disappeared the greatest difficulties and restrictions to date: physical dimensions, power consumption, speed of response and reliability which had the mechanical, electromechanical and electronic systems through vacuum tubes.
Since that time, development was very fast and, with the addition on a massive scale of semiconductor elements (diodes and transistors) in the nascent integrated circuits, emerged solutions of high capacity and speed of operation, that initiated an accelerated career development in which great men, with their dreams, inventiveness, passions and ambitions, have led humanity to leap in the history of the evolution, with results that seem not to stop and have no limits in sight.
